APPG Secretariat Advisory Board (SAB)
The Secretariat Advisory Board (SAB) to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Hemp Carbon Capture & Rural Development
The Secretariat Advisory Board (SAB) provides independent insight and guidance to the Secretariat of the APPG for Hemp Carbon Capture & Rural Development (APPG HCC&RD). Its role is to support the Secretariat in identifying emerging priorities, research, innovation, and stakeholder perspectives across the industrial hemp sector, particularly those related to construction, biofuels, composites, climate policy, rural regeneration, and the UK’s Net Zero ambitions.
The Secretariat operates at the direction of the Office of the co-chairs, Bayo Alaba MP and Lord Mancroft, and supports the APPG’s cross-party membership by producing reports, briefings, and strategic recommendations. It also acts as a convenor for expert input, working to ensure that Parliamentarians have access to clear, evidence-based information on the opportunities and barriers facing the UK hemp industry.
The SAB will meet every two months, ahead of the APPG’s bimonthly meetings in Westminster, and provides a forum for collaboration across agriculture, industry, academia, and policy.
Members of the SAB include organisations and institutions working across fibre, biochar, biofuels, genetics, data, construction, and carbon finance.
